57 State Universities Get Ready to Administer Entrance Test
Surabaya, Sunday (May 11, 2008) -- Fifty seven state universities in Indonesia gets ready to administer the National Entrance Test to State Universities). The rectors of these universities agree to apply a single admission system which is the same as the previous year. The quality of the exam questions and the system of test administration will not be different. The regions of the test will be also the same. The registration can be done at 36 locations.
The registration for the state universities entrance test will be open from June 16, 2008, while the test will be held on July 2-3, 2008. The results of the test will be announced on August 1, 2008. "All these universities get ready for the registration. All test material, guidebook and answer sheets are already prepared," the Director General of Higher Education Fasli Jalal said in a press conference at an informal meeting between the Minister of National Education Bambang Sudibyo and Mass Media Leaders held at Shangri-La Hotel, Surabaya, East Java, Sunday (05/11/2008).
Fasli said, the registration fee for the test was the same as the last year. For Natural or Social Science program, it cost IDR. 150,000.00 and for combined program, it cost IDR. 175,000.00. He said, the fee would cover the test facility such as the test questions, question printing, distribution, answer sheet scanning, grading and announcement of the test results.
Further, Fasli said, the government provides 2,000 scholarship opportunities for potential students, but unable to pay for the test registration fee. These students will get a free test and transportation from home to the test location. "These have included accommodation and meal for two days," he said.
Fasli added, in addition to the single national system, each university may also administer the test by its own. "There will be a single system for a cross-area and cross university scheme," he said.***
